I really enjoyed this feature — great for the newspaper to offer such an engaging local focus that provides interesting historical insights. Have you published a similar feature on downtwon San Jose and its historic neighborhood such as the Hensley? If so, where can I obtain a copy? AAnd if not, are there plans to produce one?

Thanks & keep up the good work,

Thank you for doing such a fine job showing the past and present of Los Gatos. My folks, now in their 80’s, met at Los Gatos High School and talk about some of the places you describe and show! Thay have many stores they can tell about the town. I have spent most of my life here and have done many things from dabbling in high tech at Apple Computer, to teaching project leadership, the people skills to engineers, to real estate. I will always love Los Gatos.

Great feature…. I love Los Gatos, and these pictures make it easy to explain why! I’ve lived in many countries in Europe, and also in Canada, but Los Gatos seems to me and my family’s destination.

Unfortunately there are dark clouds on the horizon…. have you heard? Dark forces are gathering to close a historical Los Gatos landmark, the Last Call !!!

    What will be next?

Anyway great work on the feature.

I visit my brother Larry Walker and his family as often as I can because not only do I love them but I love Los Gatos! It’s a quaint, beautiful little town. My grandmother lived there back in the early 60’s, the house she lived in then slid into the road during the Loma Priata (sp?) Earthquake. I recall going through when there were lots of hippie headshops in the late 60’s, how fun and ‘artsy’ it was with it’s variety of people. I think once you move there you just can’t seem to leave it. I now live in the high desert and it’s like an oasis vacation whenever I visit.

My wife, son and I lived temporarily in Los Gatos in 2001/2002 during a work assignment I had in San Jose. We fell in love with the town and always think back to those days. Your pictures brought back many wonderful memories of our year there. It’s a town that has to be experienced to be appreciated. When we had to leave and move back to the east coast we knew were leaving a very special place.

I enjoyed the pictures, historic comments and dog slides about my town. However, coming from a third and fourth generation Los Gatos family and now raising my own in Los Gatos, I missed more pictures about the prune and apricot orchards as well as the vineyards in town. Our shopping center was the first in Los Gatos (1960) and sat on what was originialy a large orchard. The family continues to own the land since 1886. It is too bad to include primarily downtown busineses as a representation of Los Gatos both yesterday and today.

I lived in Saratoga from 1961 to the summer of ‘63. I lived on Canyonview Drive. Anybody remember me? I went to Foothill School, and later, Argonaut. What a delightful treat to see these pictures. One day I’ll go back to see the sights and smell the smells. Love from Jacksonville, Florida.
