yeah, sci-fi con? Fanime Is a convention For ANIME fans you know "Fan anime" "fanime" So i wish you would reword that because we might get more people at that convention that are cosplaying "disney" or well get "trecky's" and they can go to comic con for all of that. But other than that it wasn't bad video.

I was a volunteer at Anime over the weekend and the guy they interviewed is correct in almost every point. I best understand that the main focus is Japanese animatation, though I saw a few sci-fi characters from Star Wars, Star Trek and Hitchhikers from the Galaxy.

I found it interesting that you called it a Science Fiction con. There is certainly *some* sci-fi animé, but lots of it is not. Some of it is pure high-school drama, some is fantasy, and lots of what gets cosplayed is gaming, in which sci-fi or magic is just set dressing for fighting or puzzle solving. My two teenage daughters cosplay, and had a ball at Fanimé. The video article would have been a little better with some actual interviews with participants, even if you only asked them who they were playing. I totally agree with your observation about the color-blind character of the con. Animé is becoming global, but it's rooted in Japan, and when kids are so engrossed with foreign pop-art that they are willing to learn about another culture and find the fun there, they are opening up in good ways.
