At 89, Emma Kaliterna is one of the oldest hairdressers in the county. She goes to her shop in Santa Clara every day and cuts hair for $15.

Three and four-year-old children spend their day in the Tender Tracks program led by Wendolyn Bird. Bird runs a preschool that is entirely outdoors and nomadic - parents drop their children off at a Palo Alto park and then she and the kids head off in a van to a local outdoor open space.
